Preeti NaikGraduate Student

I come from Bangalore, a city in the Southern part of India. I pursued my Batchelor of Technology, in Biotechnology with majors in molecular and cellular biology. In my undergrad, I studied the gene RNF4 and its implications in cancers by identifying deleterious mutations associated with it. After graduating in 2021, I worked as a research assistant and studied various viral proteins like the Mpro and spike of SARS-CoV-2, Reverse transcriptase of HIV, and a few human proteins like ACE-2. Soon after, I came to State College, PA, USA to pursue my master’s in Biotechnology. I am mostly interested in the research behind infectious diseases, which motivated me to pursue research in the Szpara virology lab. Here, I worked on quantifying viral plaques using the NIS-elements software. Outside of the lab, I enjoy cooking, swimming, hiking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
